Penetrating Size & Impregnation

Penetrates the yarn

Low viscosity at working solids lets the size move into the fibre bundle instead of forming a shell.

Lower drying load

High solids at low viscosity means less water to evaporate per kilo of size applied.

Cost with starch

Blends with modified starch and acrylic binders to hit a target add-on at a lower formulation cost.

Processing Guidelines

Make-down. Dissolve in 85–95 °C water under low-speed agitation and add flake slowly to avoid lumping. Typical solution strength is 6–10% for sizing and 3–6% for binders. Hold the tank at 60–70 °C to prevent gelation, and filter through 80 mesh before the size box.
Concentration. Work at the strength the application needs — adding water later to a gelled batch does not restore the film.
Filtration. Screen the solution before it reaches the machine; gel particles that pass are defects that cannot be removed downstream.
